This year`s Health Inequalities XII Conference will focus on the “Closing the Gap” Stra- tegy, which is the resulting report on the work of the multinational Commission on Soci- al Determinants of Health (CSDH) launched by the World Health Organization in 2005. The Commission`s overarching recommendations are to:
- improve the daily living conditions,
- tackle the inequitable distribution of power, money, and resources, and
- measure and understand the problem and assess the impact of
In this context, the development, implementation and evaluation of interventions and programmes are seen as a key vehicle to reduce health inequalities and raise health equity. This year`s conference will shed light on both the national German and international perspectives in order to reflect and discuss upon the status quo of current efforts to reduce health inequalities and raise health equity.
